Blogging challenge day 1

day 1: recent picture and 15 interesting facts about myself...

(from earlier this week... Alex's first day of preschool we BOTH need a haircut!)

1. I hate ham. Refuse to kiss my husband or children if they eat it and won't prepare one in my house. I did find a really dry, sliced pit ham, which worked okay for Monte Cristo sandwiches... but it's rare.

2. I can't live without my straight iron. Seriously, I have clown hair. Not curly enough to look good, just curly enough to be a pain. I use it religiously and it's has changed my life!

3. I do 14 days of Valentines. I have since Troy and I started dating. From Feb 1-14, he gets cards, coupons, and little gifts to say "I love you today and every day." It's my one sappy time of the year.. and I hope it makes up for my craziness those other 351 days.

4. I am a pillow straightener. I pick up after people, including my family when they move things, get stuff out of drawers, closets, cabinets, etc... it drive me NUTS when my house is a mess, even if there is some dust or dirt... I need things in their place, because it makes me feel as if life is less chaotic when there is some order around me.

5. I love babies and I'd love moreoif them... if I were younger, we were richer, and someone could promise me I'd never have to deal with a NICU again. That said, I think we're done with the 3 lovely children God has given us.

6. I am a homebody. I love stay in my jammies days or even a whole weekend! I love to cook and watch movies and snuggle up on the couch or in bed with the whole family. These are our best times... just talking and playing and loving on one another. We really entertain ourselves in this family.

7. I'd still like to travel. I saw England, France, Costa Rica, and several U.S. cities when I was young and single and with out kids.. but there are so many places I'd love to take Troy and the kids!! Once Max is older.... we hope to start taking trips again... probably cheaper, in the car trips... but it's something.

8. If we won the lottery, I'd still live here... just next door to some of our best friends so our kids could play every day and we mommies could chat over coffee in our pj's daily. I might hire a housekeeper to clean my shower and toilets... or someone to pick up the dog poop and mow our lawn... or someone to do laundry... and the list goes on...

9. My wedding day was great.. but I could have skipped the dress, music, family and guests and just taken the honeymoon. We had a small wedding, and I'm SO glad we did. Now, I think I could have gone even smaller. It's always been about just the two of us... and it's made us closer than I ever knew was possible.

10. I love watching Ella dance and seeing how proud she is of herself. I love listening to her now that she can read to me and helping her to write in her journal every night. It's amazing to hear the sentence she'll come up with as the best part of her day. She is growing into such a sweet, sassy, confident little girl!

11. I love snuggling with Alex every night at bedtime. We put our foreheads together... play his musical seahorse, sing songs, and snuggle with his puppy while I rub his back. It's the most relaxing time and my favorite 1o minutes of every day.

12. I really hope Max's first word will be "Mommy." Ella's first word was "Dada" and Alex's first was "Ella" so I think I"m due here....

13. Troy says I'm part of the mommy mafia, because my group of friends and fellow mommies can help with almost anything. (carpet cleaner, roofer, A/C repair, babysitter, pediatric specialist, florist) You name it, someone has a suggestion and we can get things done when we lean on another. We are a "family" of sorts. We all do things differently, but we try not to judge one another and just offer support where we can.

14. My favorite Christmas gift this year... (from Troy the techie) was my NOOK. Not only am I reading all my books digitally now... but I can check my Facebook and email from my bedroom, and it's great for the kids to read books or have a book read to them or watch a movie while we are waiting on doctors... which is a big part of our life these days.

15. I still miss my Nana...
